Leader of the Courtiers & Ambassadors
The actors in this household portray noble men and women in the court of Mary, Queen of Scots. Both historical roles (real people) and ficticious roles are played by our members.
Courtiers
A courtier's job at faire is to answer questions for the paying guests and introduce them to the Queen, after a brief lesson in court etiquette. We sing, read poems, and perform gigs, both in the street and in court. We also perform court dances, wherein the public is encouraged to learn and participate in the dances.
Ambassadors
An Ambassador, as a representative of their country, must always behave with the upmost dignity and decorum. It is important to always be diplomatic.
Ambassador duties include: providing court entertainment as needed, maintaining the court when the Queen is away, repast with her Majesty on Saturdays, providing court color, engaging the guests who come to court.
An actor wishing to portray an Ambassador must be able to maintain the character of a foreign person. Ability to speak with an accent is helpful, but not necessary. Patience is indeed a virtue for Ambassadors. Folk of all ranks and styles are welcome and encouraged in th Ambassador's Household.
Those not wishing to portray an Ambassador might wish to be a member of the household support staff and portray a middle or lower class persona. Household staff may be from a foreign land, or a local person employed by the Ambassadors.
An actor who wishes to play with us should always be courteous, and must remember that he or she is always "on", even in line for the privy!
Come play with us!
